- וִידּוּי
- וִידּוּיm. (יָדָה) confession of sin, prayer for pardon. Tosef. Yoma V (VI), 14; Yoma 87b מצות ו׳ ערבוכ׳ the proper time for confession (on the entrance of the Day of Atonement) is Ib. וחותם בו׳ and closes the benediction with an allusion to confession (forgiveness). Y. ib. VI, 43c הו׳ מעכב the confession (by the Highpriest, Lev. 16:21) is indispensible for the legality of the act. Snh.VI, 2 וִידּוּיוֹ his (Achans) confession; a. fr.Pl. (Chald.) וִידּוּיִין, וִידּוּיִן. Shebu.14a תרי ו׳ (Ms. F. שני; Rashi וִידּוּיֵי) two confessions (Lev. 16:6 a. 11).
